Poem: 'Ms. Detroit'

2008-11-25 - 1:09 a.m.

Calling me out,
To the green fire blaze,
Hazy stares,
Back to overcast days.

A murmur it sings,
So deep in its debt,
Its PVC rings,
Cold clacking bereft.

Carmelized Hells,
Overriding the hours,
catching the smells,
Against broken towers.

A mount on my back,
A camera fixated,
My hands going crack,
The locals equated.

In sewer drains and alleyways,
Brown-downed brick split,
Crouching bent in pain haze,
To exposures built thick.

There is a mind,
A place to spend,
Spirits grind,
My ampersand.

Calling me out,
To the green fire blaze,
My home city calls.
Begin the night craze.
