Living out the dreams of others 2002-02-24 - 6:30 p.m. 
Sometimes I wish my life could be lived for me. My mom could have been one of those selfish baby-boomers who tried to push all of her failed dreams on me, leading me by the nose using a combination of guilt-trips and soundbytes of affection. I could find and be with the types of friends that love to tell you exactly what and who you should be doing. Maybe I could even listen to the advice that I should slow down, do what I enjoy, etc. and not instantly dismiss it.Then I wake up and enjoy the fact that my nightmares and dreams are all my own. Sure there are only half a dozen, but they're mine and they're strange. It'd be nice to receive some direction, but that'd be too easy. But who knows, maybe I'll find a mentor someday who doesn't end up becoming my student and getting weird on me. A man can hope, can't he? |
