A friend in need

2001-11-14 - 4:47 p.m.

Damnit.

Running to take the jump, sweat pouring, then just air rushing past, moving too fast. Missing the mark, wind leeching perspiration off warm flesh. Falling down; the evening is cool and pleasant.

Studying for the better part of two days. It was all down pat, like tight-laced boots...then this thing jumps out from the darkness, side-swiping. That man is inhuman in his planning. The test was too complex; everyone knew.

Free time to spend. A bottle looked damn good. Several bottles looked even better, some alcoholic testament to this failure. Someone did some decent convincing and the whole fantasy was replaced by bits of Half-Life. The luke warm liquor would have been nasty, but it is still tempting.

Another objective, another test, lab, conversation, who knows. People are scheduled for this evening and tomorrow. Scheduling conversations.

There's no other way to say it: disappointment. No anger, no sadness. Just suck it in and double-time it to whatever needs to be eliminated and summarily executed.

Life is like a series of gun shot wounds to the head. Different bullet, different mark, same process.

Appointment. A good friend who hasn't been around in awhile wants to chat.

Time to reload.
